Don't Miss the Parade of Lights
- Saturday, December 9 -

The Canyon Lake time-honored Parade of Lights holiday boat parade, sponsored by the Canyon Lake Yacht Club, is a cherished annual event set to enchant and captivate crowds. This iconic parade, now in its 41st year, attracts thousands of residents and guests to the picturesque lakefront homes and parks, offering a spectacular display of festive lights and colorful boat decorations. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 9.

Parade Route

The parade kicks off as boats line up at the Eastport launch ramp at 5 p.m. Led by the Yacht Club's iconic fire-breathing dragon, the boats set sail from East Port at 5:30 p.m., zig-zagging through the East Bay to the boat tunnel for a spectacular display of lights. Boats that can fit through the tunnel will pause at the Holiday Harbor Park docks for a 30-minute intermission (approximately 7:30 p.m.), while those unable to fit through the tunnel will exit the lake and relaunch at Holiday Harbor. Once regrouped at the docks, the parade resumes around the main lake, touring Big Bass Cove, Catfish Cove, and Happy Camp before returning to the festivities at Holiday Harbor Park.

Viewing Spots

Some of the best spots to check out the parade are Holiday Harbor Park, Indian Beach, Roadrunner Park, Diamond Point Park, and Sunset Beach. The boat parade will also stream live on the Parade of Lights Facebook page

Festivities at Holiday Harbor Park

There will be hot dogs, chili, coffee, and hot chocolate for spectators, plus Santa will make a special appearance from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. During the parade intermission at approximately 7:30 p.m., spectators can get an up-close look at some of the decorated boats docked at Holiday Harbor.

RSO vs Community Patrol

Canyon Lake is a unique community that has both patrol services (provided by the Canyon Lake POA) and police services (provided by Riverside County Sheriff). In times of safety or security issues, it's crucial to know which authority to contact. The Riverside County Sheriff addresses a range of concerns, including burglary, fraud, lost property, theft, trespassing, vandalism, animal cruelty, and sexual abuse. Whereas the Canyon Lake POA's Community Patrol addresses concerns related to barking dogs, curfew, loitering/solicitation, noise complaints, and vandalism to Canyon Lake POA common areas. Additionally, Marine Patrol provides boat distress assistance, boat inspections, and lake speed enforcement.

Remember always to call or text 9-1-1 if you cannot make a call and there is a threat to life, imminent violence, or a crime in progress.

Lake Emergency Markers

Have you ever noticed the large letter signs that can be seen on the lake at several of the beaches and parks around the community? These letter signs are actually Emergency Locations Markers (ELMs) with latitude and longitude coordinates attached to them. The letters go from A to O. Residents who have an emergency on the lake can refer to the letter when they call 9-1-1. The Canyon Lake Fire Department references these letters so they can determine your location and provide assistance quicker. We recommend that all boaters have a copy of the Emergency Location Markers Map, which includes the physical address of each letter in the event that dispatch requests the address.

Canyon Lake Camera Program

The Security Advisory Committee, Riverside County Sheriff's Department, and City of Canyon Lake have collaborated to create the Canyon Lake Camera Program. This is an opportunity that allows community residents with surveillance systems to voluntarily add themselves to a list that Riverside County Sheriff's Department and Canyon Lake POA may refer to if a criminal incident occurred nearby. By signing up for this program, when these criminal incidents occur, the Canyon Lake POA and/or law enforcement may contact you to help solve the crime by requesting to review the video footage your system may have captured.

This program is for Canyon Lake POA members, and members must log in to the website to sign up. Alternatively, email [email protected] to sign up. If emailing, please include your name, address, and tract-lot number.

Event Planning Toolkit

The Canyon Lake POA fosters and promotes celebrations throughout the community. However, as with any organization, we must ensure events held at our facilities follow ordinances set in place by other authoritative agencies such as, the City of Canyon Lake, Riverside County Health Department and Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to name a few. To help members, clubs, and sponsored organizations navigate through the process of planning an event, we created an online event planning toolkit with step-by-step instructions for planning your event, links to forms, documents, and other agencies and more!
